A retort pouch is a sterilizable flexible packaging bag made from a thin layer of adhesive film that can withstand handling of the product inside at a temperature of 250°F (120°C) for at least 50 – 55 minutes. The bagged tuna is probably the most familiar to the public, one of the industry’s early adopters. The retort bag is easy to carry, compact and lightweight. The appearance is tough and can prevent hard objects from being scratched or punctured to cause leakage. The shelf life of the food in the retort bag can be longer.
